This Is Just To Say

This is Just to Say by Charlotte Shurtz

I have spoken

Her name

that was long

hidden

and which

you were probably

protecting

from hate and misuse

Forgive me

She is majestic

so full of wisdom

and so loving.

The poem was written in imitation of William Carlos Williams’ “This Is Just To Say,” which apologizes about eating the plums in an icebox.
