One Great Whole by juliablakeart
I hope my daily life, actions and thoughts help increase connection to God (Father+Mother), uncover, discover and connect truths. This tree portrait is unlike all the others I have finished, yet all refer to our Mother in Heaven. Imperfect circles are the stars of the piece, forming one great whole with the trunk. Most are connected to each other like Venn diagrams (thank you Annie Kershisnik Blake) and where that connection takes place I used a pearl metallic powder mixed with medium to show the extra power of commonality/overlap. Some are not connected, but are surrounded. Most important and a first for the Certain Women exhibit where this piece shows, I used a process of subtraction to uncover the white canvas beneath so that the leaves are simple and clear, not because anything was added layered on top of them, but because their truth and beauty were uncovered, exposed and made clean. I believe our Mother in Heaven is being found and we will realize that She was there all along.
