I’ll know Them when I see Them

Books in a row

I work at seagull book (an LDS bookstore) and I have this one coworker who is an older woman, probably in her late 60s, who joined the church in 2005. Last night we were working together and we started talking about women and the priesthood, and then we got to talking about Heavenly Mother. I showed her the book “Our heavenly families, our earthly families” with the picture “In Their image” by Caitlin Connolly on the cover and told her it was our heavenly parents in the picture. She thought it was Adam and eve but when I told her it was our Father & Mother, she just lit up in a way I have only seen a few times in my life. I told her how it only makes sense that we have God the Father and God the Mother because we were literally created in Their image. (i.e. how could woman be created in man’s image?) What she said next really struck me: “i’m not afraid to go, because I’ll know Them when I see Them, and they’ll be happy when I get there.” I immediately felt this overwhelming feeling of the Spirit just saying to me that They were all there right then. God the Father, God the Mother, Their Son, and Their Spirit were all there next to us in that moment. Because those moments, when two of God’s children connect over something so sacred, are the moments when we discover who we are and when we discover the whole purpose of everything.
