For our Global Women Studies Capstone, we wanted to research arguably the most influential woman of all history: Our Heavenly Mother. For our capstone we, Rachel Hileman and Emilia Bingham, conducting a service learning project in which we researched what prophets, apostles, church leaders, and religious scholars have taught about God the Mother, organized that material into six distinct lesson plans, and then led discussion groups based off of those lesson plans for six consecutive weeks.
While creating the lessons and leading the discussion groups was an amazing experience, we still had a desire to do more. We recognized that six weeks had been a big commitment for some people, that some people lived too far away to come, and that some people may not have been seeking their mother at this time, but will later. That is why we have built up our lessons to make them easy to follow at home, and easy to study whenever you have the desire.
Our google slides in the lessons are the same that we used when conducting our discussion groups; however, each slide is now accompanied with “thoughts” from Rachel and Emilia. These notes are
included so that the content and the progression of the material will make more sense as you study at home. The notes are formatted as thoughts, because we believe that developing a relationship with Heavenly Mother is a personal journey, and that our lessons are not meant to force, but to support that journey.
We are excited to share with you what we have learned about Heavenly Mother and invite you to get to know Her.
